About Dana DePaul Ellis, MSTOM, L.Ac
Dana discovered Chinese Medicine years ago when confronted with her own health issues. After exhausting the traditional western therapies, a friend suggested acupuncture and herbal medicine. Dana experienced such profound results from Chinese Medicine that she made the decision to leave a successful 13 year career, sell her belongings and move to sunny California to become a student of Chinese Medicine.
It was there in San Diego that Dana studied at the renowned Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, earning her MSTOM (Masters of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine) in a rigorous 4 year program consisting of nearly 4000 of classroom study. While in San Diego, Dana completed several rotations at UC San Diego Hospital's Owen Clinic treating patients with serious and terminal diagnoses, as well as Rady Children's Hospital treating children and adolescents.
After school, Dana continued building on her strong foundation in Traditional Chinese Medicine by traveling to Japan, attending courses in Shakuju Core Therapy. Dana has found this gentle but very powerful style to be successful in treating any condition, especially useful in treating children as well as those adults who may be needle sensitive or apprehensive.
Dana believes in treating the whole person and the root cause of any disharmony in the body, rather than just treating symptoms. She encourages her patients to take an active role in their own healing process to bring body, mind and spirit back into balance.
